Facilities

CCS moved to its purpose-built, spacious campus in August 2005. Grassed areas, trees and shady play areas enhance the welcoming and colourful environment of CCS. The terraced campus has ramps to ensure that there is wheelchair access to all classrooms.

The campus is set 200 metres from the main road and covers almost one hectare. It has a full range of facilities including large classrooms, Science Laboratory, Art and Design Room, Computer Room, Library, Music Room, Multi Function Hall, Sick Room, undercover Early Years play area, and general play areas for older pupils.

Interactive whiteboards have been placed in several rooms, including the ICT room, the Science Laboratory, and classrooms used by Years 6 to 9 classes. These boards add to the teaching resources and enhance the learning opportunities for pupils.

Located in the same compound as the Canggu Club, CCS has the unique opportunity to use a number of the Club's facilities at pre-set times, including the sports field, the adjacent practice field and the swimming pools. The Multi Function Hall is a shared facility, with the School having exclusive use between 8am and 4pm on school days. The School is also able to arrange for additional use at other times.

The main facilities of CCS are summarised in this section to provide you with further information. We invite all interested people to make an appointment to view CCS' campus.

Classrooms

School bagsIn constructing CCS, we have adhered to Australian standards wherever possible.

Professionally insulated against heat and humidity, our classes are purpose-designed with low windows, providing excellent line of site and internal lighting in accordance with the highest standards. Each classroom has air conditioners. They are used at the discretion of teachers, to ensure that heat and humidity levels are kept at a comfortable level for pupils to participate in class activities.

Our Early Years classroom are are located close to the school entrance, with easy access to toilets and a special play area for the younger years. Each classroom is divided by the class teacher into distinct activity corners with important quiet areas for children to rest whenever necessary.

All other classrooms share the same high standards, with specific resources and, in some cases, specialised equipment for the age levels and subjects taught. Whether group clusters, discussion areas, or quiet reading areas are required, each classroom can be adapted to meet year level requirements.

Computer Room

ICTWe believe in preparing our pupils for later studies by introducing them in a positive manner to Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Our Computer Room is part of a school-wide network, with broad-band Internet access. It is equipped with twenty-five PC work-stations so that all pupils can gain maximum access to, and benefit from, the curriculum. Tasks that encourage creativity, assist with the development and practice of knowledge and skills, and provide research opportunities are the basis of our ICT curriculum.

Elearning activities are prepared whenever possible for pupils from the Middle School. This means that pupils who have to be absent from school can access work provided they have access to the Internet. This is most helpful to those having to travel overseas for an extended period. We are well aware of the potential negative aspects of the Internet the network has software to protect pupils. Each child in the Middle School is also provided with an email account to use for school purpose.

MFHThe Multi Function Hall (MFH), with an area of 9,500 square feet, is exactly that. The following are some of the activities that take place in the MFH:
  • Physical Education classes for all pupils
  • Interschool sports fixtures
  • Drama productions
  • Music concerts
  • School Assemblies
  • General play activities
  • Meetings for large groups

The MFH is fully equipped to handle a full range of indoor sports and PE activities including:

  • badminton
  • basketball

  • volleyball.

A large audio PA system is easily set up and lights are able to be added for plays and other productions.

There is a kitchen in the MFH. It is used by a caterer to prepare fresh School lunches on a daily basis. Eating areas with trestle tables and bench seats are set up for the children to have a pleasant environment in which to recharge their batteries.

Toilet facilities are located in the MFH.

Library

Classes visit the Library each week and the carpeted, air conditioned room provides pupils with a quiet location to visit before school and during break times as well. Pupils are always encouraged to borrow books, with the number permitted at any one time increasing as they get older. The electronic cataloguing system allows older pupils to search for books themselves. In addition, the Library Technician is available to assist whenever it is necessary.

There are discrete sections for shelving fiction books for different aged readers to ensure that appropriate literature is borrowed. The collection of fiction, non-fiction and reference books has increased considerably in the last two years and this will continue to be a focus for our growing school. Other literature, such as magazines, is increasingly being made available to inspire our pupils to develop a lifelong passion for reading.

Sick Room

Print

CCS has a dedicated Sick Room in the Front Office area that is staffed by a trained nurse (the Matron) through a special agreement with Kasih Ibu Hospital. In the event that pupils fall sick during the school day, they are cared for in the quiet and restful environment by the Matron until their condition improves or they are taken home/for specialist treatment. If the School is unable to contact a parent/guardian and specialist treatment is needed, the preferred centre for such treatment will be the International wing of Kasih Ibu Hospital. CCS staff members are also trained in First Aid procedures and can assist the Matron if necessary.
